In tough economic times such as these some may try to tell you that it is hard to garner new patients; in reality, this is actually far from the truth. Now is actually the best time to get new patients because in tough times people are more conscious of who they see for care. If they are not currently getting the best in care they are more interested in looking for a practice that provides better or more economical care. This creates the perfect environment for you to make yourself known and thus draw in people looking for care.
They key in getting new patients is to clearly define for yourself what are the assets and values your practice provides to potential clients it's. This is different for every practice. For example it could be good prices on services, providing the very best quality services, or location and convenience. Once you define this for yourself you need to make it known. This can be done through a variety of ways, from mailers and advertisements to word-of-mouth campaigns.
So don't let the newspapers tell you all is bad, name your practice's primary values and get these known to all your current and potential patients. You will see increases in new patients regardless.
